Mathew Konkler
Mathew J. Konkler serves as Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board for BlackPoint Enterprises, which include BlackPoint Distribution Company, BlackPoint Commodities, BlackPoint Trading and BlackPoint Distribution Africa.
BlackPoint Distribution has a long history in the U.S. distribution, logistics and manufacturing sectors.
Mathew Konkler, grandson of the business’ founder, learned about hard work and the art of logistics at a very young age while working for his grandfather’s company. Matt’s childhood included cleaning loading docks, organizing loads for shipment and learning to operate a forklift – before his feet could reach the pedals.
Established by Robert E. Konkler (1922-2004) in 1959 under the name KOBROS (Konkler Brothers Inc.), Robert Konkler built his company on the theory that better methods existed for achieving efficiency and results.
He demonstrated this by making a lasting first impression, offering first-class service and doing whatever it took to get the job done right. His company quickly gained a reputation for delivering the promised products and a better-than-expected experience. Today, throughout the Blackpoint family of companies, those same values and practices are maintained.
Throughout his career, Mathew Konkler has gained experience and dutifully served in a number of sectors – public, private and non-profit. As Executive Director for the National Center for Complex Operations (NCCO) and as Senior Advisor–national security, with the Indiana Economic Development Corporation, Matt was responsible for developing strategic relationships within the national security sector and establishing a consortium of members from federal and state agencies – as well as academic, corporate and non-profit partners. Before that, Konkler served as a program manager at Raytheon Company, where he performed business development within emerging international markets.
In 2001, Matt Konkler received a presidential appointment (George W. Bush) to the Office of the Secretary of Defense, The Pentagon, where he served two Secretaries of Defense, the honorable Donald H. Rumsfeld and the honorable Dr. Robert M. Gates. Konkler has traveled to 119 countries, including numerous visits to Europe, the Middle East, south Asia and Africa – on official trips with senior government leaders.
In 2012, Konkler joined the public policy research and development Sagamore Institute as a senior fellow, leading the national security portfolio. In 2014, he was named to the Indiana State University College of Technology Executive Board.
